Flipping Your Own Mysterious Fortune Cards- For A Profit?

The other night, I received an email. Now I usually get a few a day, but they are more about asking questions like “what do I do in this situation” or “the price of X is 50g, is it worth flipping?” and so on and so forth. I really enjoy answering them, so keep em coming! But this one stuck out....kinda like a sore thumb. Almost like Netherweave Bags. MFC's have been talked about alot since we first saw them, but in this email, I saw some things that you all should know...

Nithrius (Order of Entropy- Wyrmrest Accord) loves stats. Almost as much as I do.  After talking with him, I found out that the email was answering a question from a previous post I had, The New WoW Crack (Dec 17^th). Alot of folks have made a ton of money on them, and well, they will continue doing so for some time. Enough with my blah, blah, blah, let's get to some numbers.....

Nithrius started out using Cinderbloom. At 20-28g per stack, he decided to buy around 6 pages worth (217 stacks). One of the sickening numbers he had was that he purchased 505g worth of Resilient Parchment. Now I thought I have bought a ton of them, but I guess I never realized how much I spent....staggering, huh? Anyways, back to the guts:

Cinderbloom: 217 Stacks

Total Spent: 5520g on Herbs- 505g for Parchment

Yield: 1209 Blackfallow Ink

Totals in MFC's:

10s: 637

50s: 267

1g: 187

5g: 88

20g: 20

50g: 4

200g: 5

1000g: 1

5000g: 1 - (In case you were wondering, he stated it was #839/1209)

Total: 8224.2g

What? You don't believe a 5K? Screen Shot or it didn't happen, right?

Here is what interests me. Not only did he luck out on the RNG, but he got the 5K Card. Not only did he "waste" 5.5K for this experiment.....but he actually profited. 2.7K gold. Now before you mention "It's RNG" or "A thousand cards doesn't correctly predict the outcome".....well, he did it again, because he was feeling the same thing.

Is that better? 2.6K loss make you feel better? see the .0339%? That isn't 3% folks. That would be three outta one hundred. That isn't .3 percent, or three out of one thousand. That's .03%, or three outta TEN THOUSAND. Now these do not take a math major to figure out, and the might not be 100% accurate, but they do give you an idea....If you are thinking about flipping your own cards, unless you bribe Blizzard somehow for a decent drop, you are way better off selling them. 

Thanks to Nithrius for taking the time and gold for this project, I am sure that with all the inks that he bought, his server is feeling the pain. I can only imagine if he sold the actual cards how much he would have got....well, let's check that quick now that I am thinking of it....

Mysterious Fortune Cards- Do You Sell or Open?

Ok, Ok. There has been alot of information and posts of Mysterious Fortune Cards. As you know, I had a previous post on them, and had little if no luck on any epics.....However, I have been bitten by the bug myself (only for the sheer fact of actually opening up a 5K card), and have not seen one yet, only in link. After posting 100 in differing stacks this morning, I had a few left, and decided to open them.....



Drum roll please....Ok, so not the 5K, but I will take a 1K nonetheless! /smile =)



I know it's been a while since I posted "The Openings" as there has been a bit of backlash from other bloggers ("Yeah, anyone that buys mats from farmers can make that kind of gold", "you support gold farmers by buying mats in bulk, you even say so in your posts").

I do want to clear that up. I couldn't tell ya. Don't know. When someone says in chat they are selling mats cheap, I buy them. Are they gold sellers? Who knows. Have I been offered to buy what seemed like a full bank worth of stuff? Yup. Did I do it? Nope. Probably was a theif, logging into someone elses stolen account...Yes, they were reported btw (Rypkin, if you read this, I hope you got your account back!). But anyways, if the readers want them, they get them! If you are new to the blog, check back posts to see how I do it. =) I am definitely not the best, those props go to Markco, but I enjoy trying to catch up to ya!





Can you tell I slacked a little? Those were from earlier in the week, when I didn't log in but for a minute to get the SS, no adding auctions/playtime...

The New WoW Crack- Mysterious Fortune Cards

Well, I hope you all had a chance to hit up the IRC Chat tonight sponsored by none other than JustMyTwoCopper. If not, the topic of the night (and it's still going on) is Mysterious Fortune Cards.

To quote one of the posters, Xaiadar, "I have to say, I did not expect my level 68 scribe to be my best gold earner this expansion so far!"

So I asked how well people are doing with selling tonight...

Shifty__ i've only made about 15k around i think
bakon i made 1100g
Sykez about 3k... at 4-6am
Xaiadar I've got to be getting close to 60k profit today


And then this came up:

I still have some sitting in the AH, and they are slow moving, but have had a few sell. Maybe my server doesn't have the addicts on it as much as the others, or maybe the hype hasn't hit yet. I know myself, I have opened quite a few (around 200ish- during leveling- just wanting to get the 5K so I can show ya'll a screenie, but no luck, just some greens, 5g and 20g's). I SS'd a tab for ya anyways...

I do want to see a screen shot of the 5K Card. Anyone seen one? I heard on the chat that people were linking them, and that they have "dropped", but not entirely sure, until I see it myself.

There is word that these are selling in ridiculous amounts for ridiculous gold. However, I will not be able to get in on this too much, as I will not be around much this weekend, Christmas parties....ugh....

So we have a few more hotfixes coming up I am guessing, so keep an eye out as usual.
