Getting rich with Primal Might

This method has been mentioned before on this guide in a bigger TBC compilation, but I still receive a few questions or comments about Primals and Alchemists. Apparently the last post wasn't clear enough, so here's a refreshment.

I'm still often the only person on my realm selling these, even though they are needed by many people. One sells for even 800g if there is no one else selling and someone needs them desperately. There is definitely room for more Alchemists doing this!

The materials are often very expensive though, so sometimes it will be more profitable to sell them as they are. Lucky transmute procs are not guaranteed. Thankfully the materials are easy to obtain by farming them.

Profession needed: Alchemy

Primal Gold!
Before turning any primals into anything, you should check the material costs. They are TBC items so their prices vary between 20g-300g most of the time. If each of the lesser primals sell for 300g, you'll make more gold selling them instead. It would be wise to farm them yourself. One primal takes less than 3 minutes to obtain, so it won't take long to get them all.

If you don't know where's the best place to farm them, check the previous Primal Might post.

Primal Might has simple material requirements:
  • 1 x Primal Earth
  • 1 x Primal Water
  • 1 x Primal Mana
  • 1 x Primal Air
  • 1 x Primal Fire
Remember that transmutation alchemists can get lucky procs and get even 5 items from one transmute.

Finding some recipes
If you don't have the recipe for Primal Might, you can buy it from Shattrath. The recipe is BOE and sells for 300+g in the auction house. It has a short restock timer on the vendor, so it's wise to buy 2 and sell the other one in the Auction House! And while in Shattrath, why not buy the schematic for white smoke flare also. It too sells for 300g often!

If you like it when the 600g coins drop into your mailbox from a simple method like that, you should take a look at this older post focusing on reselling Outland recipes. In other words, How to turn 200g into 3300g

Making gold in Undercity

Are you a new player? Got only a few silver coins and have no idea how to turn them into 1000g?

- No? Well.. you can still make some eaaasy gold!

Picture not related. .. Or is it?

Turn that silver into gold!
This post is similar to the limited supply run in Kalimdor, but this time capital cities will be left out from the upcoming bigger post. Especially Alliance's, because this time also only horde NPCs are listed. Don't get me wrong, I love alliance too, but for some reason every alliance vendor starts calling for guards whenever I want to do business with them :(

The point again is to buy extremely cheap items/recipes from the vendors listed below and relist them for 30-300g each in the Auction House. Items like vanishing powder should be listed for less. Let's say 1-5g each.

Most of them costs only a few copper or silver coins, so the profit is huge - provided you have the patience to sell them! Some recipes are limited and might not be for sale 24/7. To see an NPC's location, click on their name.

Keep in mind that profession recipes can take ages to sell sometimes! If no one buys your recipe, it does not mean that the price is too high, but no one has needed it. 300g for a recipe is not too much. Only lower your prices if you are undercutted.

If you're wondering why I've listed items like Enchanting Vellum, give it a try selling them for 40x more than what you paid for and see for yourself :)

Turn 43 gold into 5000 gold

Cold's Gold Blogging Carnival
This post is written as part of Cold's Gold Blogging Carnival for March 2011

This method is the one that sparked my interest in some hardcore gold making. My goal has since been to reach the gold cap itself, and infact I did reach it before they raised the gold cap not long ago (It's a whopping million now, almost)!

It started when I needed to buy the Formula for Runed Arcanite Rod for my Enchanter... So I went to the AH and searched.. found one! Oh wait, it costs 500g and its a white recipe! Oh well, I have extra money to spare. Whoops! Leveling towards 300 enchanting ate all my gold on that character. Time to send more gold from my bank alt. "Brb!"

After a few minutes I'm back at the auction house with my enchanter. Guess what? It's not for sale anylonger! Expired? Someone bought it? Auction cancelled? Perhaps.

The Philosopher's Stone recipe is also a very good example!
(Costs 80 silver in Tanaris)

White recipes are sold by vendors usually and got me thinking, why not run a bit and get it myself from whoever sells it. Or even better, forget about enchanting and list it in AH for the same price that the previous seller did, or even a bit more, while it costs 2 gold and 40 silver on the vendor! Wotlk was released at this point and everyone wanted to level their professions on their new DKs so it didn't take more than 6 hours to sell the formula.

Nowadays it can take even 48 hours to find a buyer - and more if someone is stealing your idea! *cough*

Limited Supply Run in Kalimdor
** Horde edition **
 (Sorry, no Alliance love today!)

The goal is to visit the following npcs and buy items that seem valuable, notably trade goods and profession recipes. Note that limited supply means that it's not certain that a vendor has the items available when you visit them. After that, visit the Auction House and list the items for sale once again. I usually sell them between 50-350g each. Some fish recipes sell for less than 10g though because they are so easily obtainable. Click on a name to see the locations!

It's recommended that you do this with a goblin so you get the exalted discount with all factions, even if you're not exalted!

Item not selling?
Are you the only person selling it? If yes, just give it more time. If not, reduce the price!

Over 3000g in less than 10 minutes

Since Outland is basically deserted now due to the portal removals, you can abuse it's contents and specifically it's vendor's limited quantity goods. This however is not recommended to be done multiple times in a day as you will be selling recipes in the auction house. One run in a week is enough usually, depending on how fast your items sell. There are lots of different vendors, but I will list the ones that have made me the best profit first. Note that realm population affects prices!

I will create a video later on that shows the rest of the vendors aswell, almost doubling your profit!
