Don't forget Cobra Scales!

Continuing the previous post, there are other scales aswell that I have made a fortune with. Especially Cobra Scales have been extremely profitable, mainly for the reason that absolutely no one else sells these! So you get to choose the prices, or if you have leatherworking, make even more gold by turning these into leg armor kits.

Cobra Scales are skinned from the following mobs:
These are a reagent for mainly the following items:
The hats are worthless stat wise, but a high level banker might pay a lot for a stylish hat. Still, it's often more profitable to sell leg enchants instead.

Where to learn the recipes?
Both of the above leg armors are sold by Hellfire Peninsula Quartermasters, that would be Honor Hold for alliance and Thrallmar for Horde. The hat recipes drop from some instances, specifically Sethekk Halls, Black Morass, Durnholde and Shadow Labyrinth on normal and heroic modes. They are BOP.

How much are they worth?
How much you ask for these is very much your choice. I'm sure you will be the only one selling these. I usually ask 1000-1500g for one leg enchant, as they are only needed by elitists who want to enchant their level 60 epic PVP pants with the best enchant available, dps wise.

Scales itself sell for even 400g a piece sometimes.

Stylish hats are harder to price. They are vanity items. They look cool, but are useless otherwise. Only a high level banker would need one in my opinion.

Turning Jormungar Scales into Gold!

Skinners and Leatherworkers can make some nice, easy gold by skinning Jormungars in Northrend. For some time now, each Jormungar Scale has been selling for 50-100g in the Auction House when sold in very small quantities to make them appear more rare.

On top of scales you will also receive Arctic Furs from time to time. These often sell for even 3x more than scales!

If there's more competition on your realm and the prices are smaller, a Leatherworker can turn these scales into Jormungar Leg Armors that often sell for even 1000-1300g due to no one else making them and Brutal Gladiators still need their pants enchanted.

Best mobs to skin:

There are also lower level worms in Dragonblight, but they have about 10% smaller drop rates for scales when skinned.

If they're selling for less than 20g on your realm, it would be wise to buy them all and make even more gold!

Who Let the Dogs Out? Alto's BoW WoW Part Deux

It's that time again. A week in review of my favorite posts around the blogosphere. I have to say the top one isn't even a post, as one of my favorite farming spots have returned to the game. On the Friday night JMTC meeting, Mageshadow mentioned that the Crusader Enchant is farmable once again. Cheers! I posted on this back in October 2010, and it used to be a huge goldmine for me (and is now back in my weekly rotation to farm).

After the meeting, a few of us went there to check the droprates, and here's my screenie after about an hour of farming. You see it right, three of em. Since then, I have gone back and I haven't been able to reproduce that, I was there shy of two hours and got one. So the RNG will differ.....but you all know that already. Xander (see his gold blog here) also hit up the area that evening, and he got two epics in the time I got my Formulas (but no crusaders for him).

Anyways, with that aside, here's my BoW WoW (Best of the Week in World of Warcraft):

Kaliope's Crafting Blog:

It came to my attention yesterday that there are some new Inscription and Tailoring items showing up on Wowhead, which I had somehow overlooked on my first pass of the trainers. I went back and found three new items for Scribes -continued-

Ele-Mental Gold:
While our american friends have their great Undermine Journal we europeans still lack a part of analysis when it comes to gold making. This is where the Market Watcher addon comes into play.

Capped By Cata:
Enchanting is a huge market currently on my server, as people are getting new gear and eagerly looking for the latest and greatest ways to enhance them. This is another post that will revolve around tanking as Call to Arms

Kuja's Goldmine:
While on my way to Blackrock Depths to buy a vendor sold limited supply recipe, I bumped into a level 50 rare monster called The Behemoth

PowerWord Gold:

Cata Skinning and Potion of Treasure Finding
While I'm not one to harp on "gold per hour" it was nice to see that I was able to get around 3000g worth of materials in this one hour farming session.

PrncessPwn's AH:
That is one market that can be extremely volatile. From my experience in the AH, that has been the most difficult market to get into and stay in, with deep undercutting.

Auction House Addict:

Cooking for Gold: Patch 4.1 Style
With the introduction of several new food & drink related achievements in patch 4.1, I have seen a rise in the prices of almost all the cataclysm buff foods & drinks craftable by my maxed cook. -continued-

Cold's Gold Factory:
The Amani Hex Stick used to bind-on-pickup, but since Patch 4.1 it can now be traded and sold on the auction house.  They used to disappear if you died or left the instance, so this is a nice change to the Hex Sticks.

Guild Perk: Bountiful Bags

Did you see it coming? I hope you did. Bountiful Bags is a guild perk that most "highend" guilds have recently hit. How does this affect you?

Now without going into too much detail (as I am not guilded in one that high currently), I spoke with a gent and he mentioned that there is around a 10-15% proc. I imagine you are thinking the same thing that I am here. More ore, more leather, more herbs, and more dust and essences....

*EDIT- It seems that this is also working with Archaelogy Fragements as well....I am sure this will get nerfed by the kind folks at blizz.....You might see an influx of some Arch "junk" hitting your AH. If you have the perk available, get em while you can! - - - - - - - - - It seems to have a double "proc" - - - - - - - -

Wowiki explains this as:

Bountiful Bags is a Guild Perk granted at guild level 23 that increases the amount of materials gained from Mining, Skinning, Herbalism, and Disenchanting.

Wowhead has some great comments already:

By fenriradra (1) yesterday at 11:05 PM (Patch 4.0.6)
My guild has earned level 23, with this perk.

So far, after herbing a TON of ice cap & mountain silversage (for milling on a different toon, for darkmoon decks O.o)

it's looking very much like a 15% chance when you gather for a double-loot.

The extra loot seems like it's treated like an extra node you gathered from, and rerolled for quantity, but it will not contain any extra stuff like volatile life/etc, just the base material. This was after gathering a small sample of about 200 whiptail in Uldum.

By PROXiCiDE (4) today at 8:12 AM (Patch 4.0.6)
Our guild hit this yesterday morning and on one Copper Vien, i got 10 Copper Ore from it i was amazed but it seems that it looks this could be a proc than anything. Because i will mine agian and it would be normalized ore from the vien

Now before you say "The bots aren't in guilds"....well, you might be right, but you might be wrong. I guess you have to look at it both ways here. Let me ask you this....If you are in a guild with the "bountiful bag" perk, are you NOT going to hit up a few herbs, rock some ore, or skin up some beasts? You might....You might not.....But you mos def are probably doing the Obsidium Shuffle (especially if you are reading this). Be prepared for a volatile market coming soon.

This is what I can see happening on the "higher end" servers. The dust and essences are gonna be falling. Which in turn the snowball affect will happen with scrolls for Cata enchants (if they aren't tanked already). Get busy livin, or get busy dying....

So whatcha gonna do? How will this affect your server? Are you going to keep an eye out? Or do you not care, just roll with it?

Skinners Paradise....

Ok, here's we go all. Got a hotspot for [almost] continuous farming (when you do a cycle of the area, respawns are already there) for borean leather (scraps on the "pups") and arctic fur, and for a TON of Chilled Meat and Rhino Meat. Why this spot you ask? Because there is NOONE ever there. No issues, ever. Got a few more spots, don't sweat it if you are asking "wtf? why waste time farming scraps?"

Here's another of my favorite spots, you might recognize this area from your quest here. Thats what makes this one a plus/minus.....you might have someone running through questing, please allow them to kill off the Reef Cows, or offer your help to them to finish their quest, that helps twofold, makes you feel good for helping, and it gets them out of the area quicker for you to continue your farm. Basicially, there are a few on each sidde of the island. Quick kills, good respawn rate (due to the cows are part of a quest) and great drop percentage.

And here is the top dog of all, my favorite spot. Not only after you do a full circuit of the area, they (the raptors) have already respawned, there is also the pet drop in the area. 500g freebie while you are farming? Can't beat it. Even with a stick. Ok, you can, but it will hurt it's feelings.

Yeah, there are some nice caves throughout Northrend for farming, there are alot of mammoths in many areas, but these are tried and true areas that I have had great luck with. You might find a few spots (especially near the Time Lost Proto Drake, but that's for another blog....)
