NEON GOLD + THE KNOCKS HIT LONDON.

So it's been a long minute since we've been back to our second home across the pond, but we're pleased to announce we'll be making our triumphant return to London this week with our dudes The Knocks in tow. To celebrate, we're throwing down at XOYO next Wednesday the 10th with The Knocks debut London show, complete with our beloved Spark and the mesmerizing Entrepreneurs supporting. Doors are at 8pm with Entrepreneurs taking the stage shortly thereafter for a so-called karaoke set (ooooh) that will mark their first show ever. Rounding out the line up will be Chiddy Bang beatsmith Xaphoon Jones getting large in the DJ booth with us on the ones and twos all night long. The show is also FREE ENTRY, so come one come all and let's throw down in a big way. To mark the occasion we've got a fiery exclusive remix of the Knocks new single "Dancing With The DJ" courtesy of our dudes Xaphoon and Chiddy, who will also be hitting London this week to light up King's College this Saturday. So yeah, BIG WEEK.

GOLD021: SPARK

We like to think we have a fairly rich pedigree of female pop talent here at Neon Gold, as we gaze fondly at the busts of Marina & The Diamonds, Ellie Goulding and Mr. Little Jeans lining the halls in the pantheon of Neon Gold leading ladies. So it's with great pleasure that we pass the torch on to a special newcomer by the name of Spark, who's enchanting sophomore single "Revolving" will bear our crest when it drops 15th November.

We first fell in love with Spark (quite literally born Jess Sparkle Morgan) via the breathtaking Monsieur Adi remix of her debut single "Shut Out The Moon", so it only seemed right that we invite the Italian Frenchman back for another round of remixing Ms. Morgan on "Revolving". The result is a stroke of minor genius, as Adi forgoes the stale electro beats that plague the blog remix scene in favor of electrifying strings arrangements while Spark bares her soul over his dramatic orchestal backdrop. Experience the remix for yourself below, and be sure to visit Spark's Soundcloud where you can hear the original version of "Revolving" and its accompanying B-side "Wrap".

With FRAUGRAU back again for another round of slick cover artwork, the gorgeous white vinyl 7" hits shelves November 15th and is currently available for preorder from the Neon Gold Shop as well as our British friends across the pond at Puregroove, who have an exciting new pop shop arriving next month as they search for a new permanent home for their operations. Happy preordering!

CMJ 2010 // NEW SHAPES 2.0

It's that time again, as we make our way towards mid-October and the collective gaze of the music industry falls upon CMJ and all the beautiful chaos that comes with it. Last year we brought you the first annual New Shapes party, which saw everyone from Theophilus London and Darwin Deez to Chief and Local Natives grace the stage at Santos Party House. This year we're going even bigger with it, moving to the wide open spaces of Brooklyn and the multiple stages of Public Assembly, and it's finally time to bring the curtain back on what's easily the biggest event we've ever been a part of.

Chess Club are once again our partners in promotional crime for this event, and we've also teamed up with the UK's Plugged In PR to help us bring you one of the best and brightest line ups on offer at CMJ this year. It's all going down at Public Assembly on Thursday the 21st of October, from 3pm to 3am, with two stages and over 20 amazing new bands playing over the course of the evening. Below you'll find the full line up and schedule for the night, complete with mp3s so you can sample the artists on the menu for the evening. Tickets are currently on sale via the event page HERE, and at only $12 a pop that's a hell of a bang for your buck so you'd do well to move quickly and reserve your ticket today. And as this is an official CMJ event, we will also be opening the door to a limited number of CMJ badge holders, but as space is limited you'd be wise to arrive early to ensure entry.

A NEW KIND OF PIECE OF MACHINERY.

THIS NIGHT BELONGS TO ME.

One of our favorite new talents of 2010, Spark arrives on the scene next month with her debut single "Shut Out The Moon", released July 12th by our dear friends at Puregroove. Currently on tour with Marina & The Diamonds, she possesses many of the same qualities that have made Marina one of the most adored new artists in the UK, from her off-the-wall fashion sense right down to her powerful personality and breathtaking vocals. We caught her supporting Marina at London's Bloomsbury Ballroom last month and were blown away by her ability to command a room with barely any live experience under her belt, and it was truly one of those magical "a star is born" moments that only come around once in a blue moon.

While "Shut Out The Moon" isn't quite our favorite track from her repertoire (that would be "Revolving" for those of you keeping score at home), the remix package supporting the single is nothing short of amazing and takes the whole thing to staggering new heights of brilliance. Most impressive is a nigh-on genius interpretation from France's Monsieur Adi, who's been wowing us for a minute now with his orchestral electro reworks of everyone from Ellie Goulding to Marina. In what is possibly his finest effort yet, he dresses the original up in all manner of lush strings and heavy bass surges, his background as a classically-trained violinist shining through in the mix and complementing his signature French touch style beautifully. File under: AMAZING.
