Earlier this week we were all, "What's going on this weekend?" and realized we had no plans for Friday night, so we decided to throw a party at Brooklyn Bowl with two of our favorite DJs in the world, Xaphoon Jones and Brenton Duvall. So last week our main man Xaphoon Jones promised a new beat to his fans when he hit 20,000 followers, and now that he's eclipsed that milestone he's come to us to help him deliver the goods with an exclusive premier of his remix for Grouplove's "Colours". This track's already been remixed into oblivion and beyond by the homies Captain Cuts, but here Xaph's intertwined elements of their empire-toppling mix with the stems of the original, thrown them into the Xaphoon Jones pop magic machine and come out the other side with a barnstorming floor-filler that comes off like like Grouplove wildin' out down in Jamaica with Gyptian and Nicki Minaj. And trust us, that is a GREAT thing.

Xaphoon tore the fucking roof off of Tammany Hall at Popshop last Thursday with a DJ set for the ages, and he's back for round two next Tuesday at the Beyond Gold launch party, which conveniently also features Grouplove headlining live and the NYC debut of Captain Cuts alongside Xaph on the decks in what we can only hope will develop into a Neon Gold House Mafia DJ supergroup scenario. It's been an exciting year of new ventures for us here at Neon Gold, but we're not about to stop now. First came Popshop, bringing you the best new pop music the world has to offer the first Thursday of every month in the heart of the LES. Then there was our publishing joint venture* with Warner/Chappell, which resulted in the signing of Alex Winston as our first foray into the pub world. And up next, we're very pleased to announce a brand new online magazine called Beyond Gold, coming later this month with a launch party June 14th at Tammany Hall, featuring Grouplove, 1, 2, 3, Captain Cuts and more. With a rotating staff of contributors, Beyond Gold will be bringing you the best the world has to offer in fashion, design, art, music, culture and more, an online lifestyle magazine weaving together everything we love that falls just beyond the realm of Neon Gold.

We'll have more on Beyond Gold as we get closer to the June 14th launch, but for now it's a brilliant excuse to throw an amazing launch party with our dear friends Grouplove and 1, 2, 3 playing live, plus The Knocks, Xaphoon Jones and the NYC debut of Captain Cuts - whose remix of "Colours" is still the best song (remix or otherwise) we've heard this year - on the decks. It's one of the best lineups we've ever had the pleasure of assembling for a show, and at the low low price of $5 you really have no business being anywhere else on the 14th. Can't stop, won't stop, never get enough. This whole Popshop thing has been going pretty damn well, but still we just can't keep ourselves from sweetening the deal each month. So not only are we expanding the lineup to four bands, we've also got an amazing open bar deal for complimentary Absolut from 8pm-9pm. LIKE FIRE AROUND THE BRIM.

Friday nights in NYC used to be all about The Knocks' Mr. Jpatt tearing up the decks at Antik, the highlight of which was always his immaculate blend of Passion Pit's "Sleepyhead" and The Jackson 5's "I Want You Back". Then when Xaphoon Jones moved to New York and witnessed the magic, he took it one step further and turned Jpatt's segue into a full length track, which he's been playing out around town for a minute now and finally today unveiled on his brand new mixtape Xaphoon Jones Volume 2. PICTURE MY PROPHECY.

We're endlessly proud of our DC (via London) heritage, so there's little that makes us happier than hearing fresh new noise coming out of the Chocolate City, an area vastly underrepresented in the nation's music scene in recent years. So it's with great pleasure that we introduce you to newcomer Brenton Duvall, an 18 year old production sensation representing hard for the DMV that reminds us of a young Xaphoon Jones, with his wise-beyond-his-years production savvy and a keen ear for mashups that flow so naturally it's hard to believe they weren't originally conceived by the artists involved that way. Here's a fresh double-drop intro to Duvall's work, featuring the amazing "Against A Mad World" - which finds Tupac getting mixed up with Gary Jules over an ominous original beat from Duvall - and "Ambien", on which Lil' Wayne and Trina get tripped up over a stripped back version of Passion Pit's "Sleepyhead".

INTRODUCING: POPSHOP.

It's been an amazing year for us here at Neon Gold, and as we approach the nexus of 2010 and 2011 we've got a number of exciting new ventures in the works to take the label to great new heights in the year to come. One such thing we are able to share with you today, as we bring the curtains back on POPSHOP, a new monthly pop club night that endeavors to bring the best new pop music the world has to offer to the streets of New York City every month. Together with our dear friends at HeavyRoc Music and the amazing Popjustice, we'll be bringing you POPSHOP on the first Thursday of every month at Tammany Hall, a brilliant new venue in the heart of the Lower East Side (Orchard between Stanton and Rivington) in the space where Annex used to be (which has been gutted, completely overhauled and fitted with a soundsystem that is amazing rather than completely shit).

We've put together a lineup of some of the best new acts the NYC pop scene has to offer for our launch party January 6th, as the brilliant MNDR headlines with live support from French Horn Rebellion and BRAHMS (both fresh off of amazing sets at Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival this past weekend). Chiddy Bang beatsmith Xaphoon Jones rounds out the lineup dropping jams on the laptops of steel all night long, along with opening DJ sets from the Neon Gold Beat Company and Popjustice NYC. A RHYME AND A DREAM.

When we last checked in with Chiddy Bang, they were having one of the biggest coming out parties of the year with their massive remix of MGMT's "Kids" lighting up the blogs and turning all kinds of heads in the music industry. Now their back with a slightly refined line up and a fresh debut mixtape for the masses, The Swelly Express, sampling the likes of Passion Pit, Ratatat and Sufjan Stevens alongside older favorites like "Fresh Like Us" and "Kids". It's the Sufjan jam we're most smitten with though, as Chiddy beatsmith Xaphoon Jones takes "Chicago" and turns it on its head, reworking it into one of the years illest mixtape jams.
