So last week we gave you a taste of this Thursday's Popshop with the announcement of French Horn Rebellion, AVAN LAVA, The Jane Doze, PUNCHES and G.L.O.V.E.S., and as if that wasn't enough, today we add two more brilliant live acts to the bill: Miami's PLAINS and Brooklyn's Slowdance. This brings the final lineup to a magnificent four live bands and three DJ acts spread across two floors of all-out Popshop mayhem. And all for the low low price of $10 in advance and $13 on the door, including two hours of open bars courtesy of Absolut (from 8pm-9pm) and Heineken (from 2am-3am), it's pretty much the bargain of the century. So don't delay, cop your tickets HERE and get involved, it's gonna be another glorious night at Tammany Hall.
It's hot outside, we know, but you'll have to forgive us for turning up the heat yet again with another smoldering Popshop lineup. This month we welcome back POPSHOP001 alums French Horn Rebellion, who tore the fucking roof off of the launch party back in January and stole the show in the main support slot. They've been killing it ever since, supporting Yelle's sold out US tour and releasing their acclaimed debut album in the meantime, so now we've got them back in the mix to crush it even harder in the headline slot. Support comes from ex-Fischerspooner electro types AVAN LAVA and the hottest new DJ duo in town on the decks, The Jane Doze, plus special live guests to be announced next week.
And since taking it to another level is all we do here, we're expanding the action to both floors at Tammany Hall with our friends at Finger On The Pulse taking over the downstairs and lighting it up with DJ sets from PUNCHES and Australia's finest, G.L.O.V.E.S. As per usual, we've got the standard open bar of Absolut from 8pm-9pm, with a free keg of Heineken in the mix late night from 2am-3am. Tickets are $10 in advance and $13 on the door and available from the Popshop site HERE.
After emerging unscathed from an adult-sized weekend that saw us kicking off a new great American pastime with the sold out Stars + Stripe Festival, we're back in the game with a bit more color and a much deeper thirst for live music and free drinks. What better way to get back in the swing of living the NYC dream than another Popshop to shake up your daily routine? We've got a rogue's gallery of guaranteed firecrackers tonight: Spacecamp, K. Flay, and our beloved Neon Gold alumnus Penguin Prison. Furthermore, we've got Captain Cuts with all hands on decks for what's sounding like it could be one of the biggest DJ sets we've ever had, and did we mention that there's once again an OPEN BAR on Absolut from 8-9pm and a FREE KEG of Heineken from 2-3am? Anyone needing testament to the epic scale Popshop has grown to look further than the massive new Chiddy Bang video for "I Can't Stop", filmed amongst the late night crowd at Popshop 006 and edited to perfection by our friends at Jackpot In The West. We've said it once before and we'll stay it again, this is why you ALWAYS stay late night.
As is Popshop tradition, The Knocks - fresh off of signing a crispy record deal with Universal and a barnburner of a performance at Stars + Stripes - are back with another Popshop minimix, killing it yet again on this month's installment of Popshop Radio. This month's specially curated teaser features a summery mix of our special performers, spiked with some recent favorites we've been knocking about in the office soundsystem. Check the full tracklist and stream/download below, and let it serve as a reminder to cop your advance tickets HERE before they sell out. For a mere $10, there's lights, music, and some FREE surprise themed cocktails. We can't keep something this big a secret anymore, so get involved before it's too late.
1. "Toeachizown Hello" (Mr Jpatt of The Knocks Mix) - Dam Funk vs. The Beatles 2. "Alibi" - Spacecamp 3. "5am" (ft. K. Flay) - Something AlaMode 4. "Fair Warning" (Oliver Remix) - Penguin Prison 5. "I Wanna Go" (Captain Cuts Remix) - Britney Spears 6. "The Night Out" (ft. Thomas Mars) - Martin Solveig 7. "Sunshine" - The Knocks
Oh word, Popshop's tomorrow? And it's Cinco de Mayo? You're damn right it is. And now we're taking things one step further and throwing the official Plan B afterparty into the mix (updated flyer above), as if Popshop 005 (tickets HERE) wasn't already shaping up to be the best night of your life. Entry will be free after midnight, so anyone hitting up the Plan B show at Music Hall of Williamsburg should cruise on over to Tammany late night for Futurecop! live at 12 followed by The Knocks DJing from 1 until close. To prep yourself for the occasion, we've got the latest installment in the Popshop mini-documentary series from our friends at Jackpot In The West, chronicling Walk The Moon's tour de force performance at Popshop last month.
And as per usual, we've also got an exclusive new minimix from The Knocks as well, featuring a selection of tracks from the allstars of Popshop 005 (including an exclusive new track from The Knocks) among other fresh new jams. Soundcloud's been deading our uploads all day so we'll have to forgo the player this week and just hook it up with a direct download, but we think you'll survive somehow. And who knows, maybe there's a hint in the tracklisting as to who the top secret live guest will be? Just saying. Maybe. We don't know.
1. "Eskimo Boy" - Strange Talk
2. "Ivy League Circus" - Gordon Voidwell
3. "Houseboat Babies" - Reptar
4. "Rich Doors" - New Villager
5. "Wait and See" - Holy Ghost!
6. "It's The Same Old Song" (The Knocks Remix) - The Four Tops
Having trouble expressing just how much you're loving this amazing spring weather? Worry not, as our favorite Prince-a-like Gordon Voidwell has teamed up with New York MC Iron Solomon on the perfect ode to springtime living with their new single "Spring Fever". The brilliance of this song is that it plays out a whole lot like the days we've been having. It starts out with a sunny blunted-out stroll around the city - bells chiming, dudes rhyming, big synths vibing... that sort of thing - before spiraling into a warped slow jam that feels like that perfect burnt out post-day-drunk-at-sunset moment we're all no doubt familiar with once the sun comes out and the mercury starts rising.
As sir Iron Solomon so aptly puts it "I'm talking about the first Thursday of spring", and guess what? SO ARE WE. May rears its beautiful head next week and we've got that first Thursday on lock, as Gordon Voidwell takes the stage at Popshop (alongside Futurecop, NewVillager and more) to help you usher in the fairest season with some serious dancefloor heat. Tickets available here and going fast, get involved.
Oh shit, Popshop: Cinco de Mayo Edition coming right at you. It's been four straight sell out shows and we're not planning on slowing down anytime soon, so without further ado, here's what you'll be breaking it down to at Tammany Hall May 5th. Headlining we've got the Bronx's finest in the inimitable Gordon Voidwell and his floor-filling brand of electro-funk, as well as UK partystarters Futurecop! and support from bi-coastal tribal pop duo NewVillager. Then, rounding out the lineup we've got some VERY SPECIAL TOP SECRET GUESTS providing main support to Voidwell, and though we can't reveal their identity, they're pretty much our favorite new band of 2011 and wecan assure you they'll be bringing the party in spades.
Absolut will once again be hooking up the 2-for-1 drinks from 8-9pm and The Knocks will be on the decks as our resident DJs all night long, so bring your sombrero and your party pants, because we're going IN on this one New York. As always, it's all going down at Tammany Hall the first Thursday of the month, and tickets are available HERE. By now you should know the deal - these all tend to sell out in advance and fill up early - so get your tickets now before it's too late.
With the dust settled on SXSW and everyone finally beginning to feel human again, it's time to get back in the New York groove with another round of amazing live music at Popshop, coming at you hard and fast on April 7th. We've got the hottest new band in the game and the toast of SXSW 2011 headlining in Walk The Moon, with support from starry eyed Brooklyn dreamweavers Savoir Adore and Miami's finest ANR. Then as per usual we've got Absolut bringing the drink specials early with 2-for-1 drinks from 8pm-9pm, plus Lightwaves lighting up the decks all night long.
You should have the hang of this by now, but as always it's going down the first Thursday of the month at Tammany Hall (152 Orchard between Stanton and Rivington) in the LES, and tickets are available HERE. We're also making the show FREE after midnight (space permitting), for those of you who hate live instruments but still want to get your dance on with Lightwaves until the early hours. And just a reminder - the first three Popshops all sold out in advance, so GET YOUR TICKETS EARLY. It breaks our heart to see people turned away at the door, so please save everyone the emotional anguish and don't sleep on this one. Set times and downloads/streams below, see you next Thursday.

With one of the more genius live setups of any up-and-coming band we've seen and a debut EP that found it's way into our Top 25 Singles of last year, Oh Land has been dazzling us since she first slipped onto our radar in the twilight of 2010. Now, with her debut album out next month and an expanded live show set to debut at Popshop next week, she looks primed to take things to the next level in a big way. Catch her before she goes supernova at Popshop this Thursday (get yr tickets) along with Icona Pop, Starsmith and Friends, and get yourself ready with the phenomenal Twin Shadow remix of "White Nights" now.
Popshop 003. It's on. After selling out January and February we're back with a very special March lineup featuring some of the best up-and-coming talent from both sides of the Atlantic. But first a look back at February's Popshop, in which The Knocks and Penguin Prison had Tammany Hall going off unlike anything we've ever seen from a Manhattan crowd in a small LES venue, courtesy of our friends Jackpot In The West who were on the front lines once again documenting the mayhem first hand.
Moving on then to bold new frontiers with the March edition, we've got what just might be our most exciting lineup yet. Opening up the night is Brooklyn's hottest new band Friends - currently wrapping up a national tour with Darwin Deez supporting their brilliant debut single "Friend Crush" (stream below) - followed by our beloved Icona Pop's first ever show outside of their native Sweden and capped off by a headlining set from Denmark's inimitable Oh Land. And rounding out the lineup is a truly special DJ guest in the amazing Starsmith, the icing on the cake on what's already a very special lineup. As usual, it's popping off the first Thursday of the month - March 3rd - at Tammany Hall, with doors at 8pm and lasting until the early hours. $10 advance tickets available HERE, with $13 tickets available on the door if any remain. The Popshop debut went down a storm earlier this month, with over 1000 people RSVPing to fill the 350 capacity room at Tammany Hall. With a line around the block for nearly two hours, the cops were summoned to break up the crowd so apologies to anyone who was turned away. Fortunately all future Popshop shows will be ticketed events, so anyone left out of the cold at the launch party will be able to purchase tickets and ensure their entry. Fortunately for anyone who missed out, our friends at Jackpot In The West were on hand filming the event and have put together an amazing "trailer" of sorts for Popshop which you can and should view below. We've also set up a dedicated Tumblr page for Popshop, which you can find HERE.
So moving onwards and upwards then, without further ado we're pleased to announce the February edition of the night, featuring a co-headlining takeover by The Knocks and Penguin Prison with support coming from NYC up-and-comers Like Diamonds live and the amazing Lightwaves on the decks all night long. It's all going down at Tammany Hall the first Thursday of the month (February 3rd), with Absolut on board once again hooking up the drink specials throughout the night. Tickets are $10 in advance and can be purchased online HERE, or $13 on day of show available for purchase on the door. The show will likely sell out though, so we'd advise you move fast and purchase online to ensure entry on the night. Full running order below:
Hope everyone's getting some solid recovery time in this week from New Year's Eve and the holiday break because we're about to do it all over again this Thursday at POPSHOP (only... bigger?). It's all popping off at 8pm with two-for-one cocktails courtesy of Absolut, then BRAHMS and French Horn Rebellion tearing it up at 9 and 10 respectively, before MNDR hits the stage for her headlining set at 11pm. Then Chiddy Bang's own Xaphoon Jones will be taking us until the early hours on the ones and twos with enough hot jams to reduce the dancefloor of Tammany Hall to smoldering ash by dawn. Entry is on a first-come-first-serve basis for the first hour and as the venue approaches capacity we'll only be allowing in names from our RSVP list, so be sure to RSVP at POPSHOP@neongoldrecords.com to make sure you're covered. And now for something to set the tone for the evening, the amazing Twelves radio edit of French Horn Rebellion's signature jam "Beaches & Friends", a track we can't wait to hear live again on Thursday after it absolutely destroyed the Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival a few weeks back.
It's been an amazing year for us here at Neon Gold, and as we approach the nexus of 2010 and 2011 we've got a number of exciting new ventures in the works to take the label to great new heights in the year to come. One such thing we are able to share with you today, as we bring the curtains back on POPSHOP, a new monthly pop club night that endeavors to bring the best new pop music the world has to offer to the streets of New York City every month. Together with our dear friends at HeavyRoc Music and the amazing Popjustice, we'll be bringing you POPSHOP on the first Thursday of every month at Tammany Hall, a brilliant new venue in the heart of the Lower East Side (Orchard between Stanton and Rivington) in the space where Annex used to be (which has been gutted, completely overhauled and fitted with a soundsystem that is amazing rather than completely shit).
We've put together a lineup of some of the best new acts the NYC pop scene has to offer for our launch party January 6th, as the brilliant MNDR headlines with live support from French Horn Rebellion and BRAHMS (both fresh off of amazing sets at Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival this past weekend). Chiddy Bang beatsmith Xaphoon Jones rounds out the lineup dropping jams on the laptops of steel all night long, along with opening DJ sets from the Neon Gold Beat Company and Popjustice NYC. Our friends at Absolut have come on board to sponsor, bringing you 2-for-1 drinks from 8pm-9pm and more drink specials throughout the night. And the best part? It's all 100% FREE with RSVP to POPSHOP@neongoldrecords.com. It all kicks off Thursday, 6th January with doors at 8pm and lasting until well into the early hours. Full schedule below.
