This post is once again directed from a reader email that I received yesterday. Mila asked about the new Enchant formulas and how to price the scrolls. Even though this post is geared toward them, the information contained here will work with any "rare or epix" item (you just might have to use your imagination a little).
Whether you are a blacksmith, tailor, leatherworker, or what-have-you, take the info below, and just "tailor" it to you and your prof. While reading, you will see how I set market prices for "new" items (after patches, after new BoE's come out into the AH). I will cover a few things here: pricing, AH comparison, estimating worth/value, and dealing with buyers in /tells. Without further ado, here's you's go!
So with the drop of 4.0.6 recently, we came across a few new enchants:
Enchant Bracer- Agility +50 Agility
12 Hypnotic Dust
2 Maelstrom Crystal
15 Volatile Air
Enchant Bracer- Major Strength +50 Strength
6 Hypnotic Dust
2 Maelstrom Crystal
25 Volatile Earth
Enchant Bracer- Mighty Intellect +50 Intellect
4 Hypnotic Dust
4 Greater Celestial Essence
2 Maelstrom Crystal
15 Volatile Water
Now if you were one of the first to pick up these enchants, you are probably freaking out wondering if you are ever gonna get your "investment" back. Whether you paid 10K, 15K, or 25K for the "drop", the market is still pretty slim right now. When you factor in each one is 2 Malestroms, and those are probably sitting around 2-3K right now (on the low end), you are looking at a 6500g enchant. Crafter cost....
So now we have to decide a few things. One, what profit margin you are looking to get. First, you will need to check to see if anyone is selling the enchants in your AH. If you are on a US server, check The Undermine Journal to see what the traffic is on the 'chant.
"Alto, there are a few I see, and they are going for 7K"
Keep one constant at that price. A 500g profit (or 499g99s99c) is better than zero. In this case, I do not want you to buy out the 7K and list for 10K. Go all the way down to 200g profit. I would not recommend to go lower than that. Peace of mind.
"Alto, I haven't seen any yet. None. What prices do I sell them for?"
One and a half to twice the mats cost (remember, that's YOUR mats cost). So if you pay out of pocket 4.6K, then you should cut that in half (2.3) and add that to your inital investment, so you end up selling on the low end for 6.9K. See where I am going with this? Pretty simple. If one sells quickly, then what we will do next is add 1K. If it sells, then add another. If it doesn't, drop it back down. Okie Dokie?
"Alto, after listing, I am getting tells with folks having mats, and will tip for it"
This is a great thing. I normally charge half my markup in the AH. So using the numbers above, you can safely charge 1K. Now here is the kicker. If you keep an eye out on your "popular" guilds, and see that they are one of them, do this....."I have been charging 1K to enchant this, but I will cut it in half if you holler at your buds. Anyone in your guild can get one for 500g if they supply the mats". Now "big money" might not tell his/her guild, but you put a bug in their ear, and it's still freebie profit. Feel me there?
"Here we go, I got another one for you....Someone isn't wanting the chant, they are wanting it on a scroll. They said that they are putting it on their "main", and offered a 500g tip.....they also mention that the one you have listed in the AH is too high, the mats only cost 4.6K."
Ugh. Bad situation. Before saying "yes" right away (I just told you to take 500g for a tip...didn't I?), you can assume that this guy is going to try to flip it (remember you have one in the AH for 2.3K more than the mats, right? If not, he just reminded you...). So you get 500g, he gets 1800g, and you lose a sale because he just undercut your auction.
In this scenario, I would tell him "I am sorry, but I am the only one with this chant that is selling the scrolls, and I hate doing this, but I can go 1K to put it on a scroll for you (that way if he does sell, at least you got 1K, and you can undercut the shit outta him for lying to you...), or if you log on your main, I can chant your bracers for 500g."
"Alright, you are doing good covering scenarios Alto. Now I got one for you.....You get a tell saying "why would I pay 6.9K for that when i can get XXX for a couple hundred gold? You aren't gonna sell that, how low can you go on it?"
This is probably the worst situation for a sale. How good of a salesman/woman are you? I would have to respond with "The reason the lesser chant is XXX is due to that's an old enchant. If you want me to sell you that one, I have one I can sell you for XXX (cheaper than AH). The reason that scroll is so expensive is that it's the best. Have you seen the materials to make it? I am barely making profit. So if you want to heal/dps/tank/ at Wrath level, by all means, it's up to you. But you have to pay for the best, and these are the best. Welcome to Cata bud!"
Now thats a long tell, but you get my point. You want to let them know that if that is too rich for their blood, you can sell them the "lesser" scroll (more sales). Then you want to tell them mats cost (they might not know). Then you want to tell them that there is little profit (you aren't lying. you are still at a loss from the 15K you paid for it....).
Now I want to reiterate a few things here:
One, you NEED to have one of all your major "crafts" in the AH at ALL times (as you can afford). You should know your market to see what is selling, if not, you can check around (The Undermine- even if you are on a EU server, just to check the "going rates" and the average sales per day).
Two, DO NOT sell for a loss, unless in dire need. I would hope that you have listened to me about investing in anything, no matter what it is, that you should NOT put more than a third of your bankroll into a "quick flip" (herbs, ores, volatiles- at a "farmer rate" or CHEAP...), and if there is a chance that it won't sell fast (epix crafted, the rare scrolls above, etc), don't invest more than 10%. This way, if it doesn't sell right away, or the price fluctuates, you aren't freaking out. You still have your "stockpile" of gold to invest in other areas. Feel me?
I hope this helps clear up a few things about newer items and how to go about selling them. Pricing, AH comparison, estimating worth/value, and dealing with buyers in /tells.
For my seasoned (no, not with salt or pepper, the "pro") readers, do you see anything I left out here? Did you actually get through the whole post? If you did (haha), I bet you are thinking about something right now. How about tossing a comment for the folks out there? Thanks ahead of time for the support!

Whiptail in 4.0.6- Damn the Uldum Dam!
Well, we knew it wouldn't last forever (but secretely hoped it would), last night (during the JMTC TS Gold Chat) I hit my "route" that I have ran about 6 times (hour blocks) since Tuesday to my normal success (a little light on Volatiles though...)
After three days of hotfixes and one server "restart" (that I know of) I started to think that maybe this was on purpose (the herb buff), as I was still getting great numbers, 393 Whiptail, 108 Volatile Life.
As you can see, it got worse. I then start seeing a few that are 15 hours....then a 16 hours.
After three days of hotfixes and one server "restart" (that I know of) I started to think that maybe this was on purpose (the herb buff), as I was still getting great numbers, 393 Whiptail, 108 Volatile Life.
It was something completely different when I hit the same area around 1am server time for another run.....once again, some were on the "normal" post patch 2 minute timers, then I started seeing 5 minutes, then 20 minutes......
As you can see, it got worse. I then start seeing a few that are 15 hours....then a 16 hours.
By now you should know how I work, I took it upon myself to count up the nodes. 7,8,9,10,11. Now I updated you a few days back that they had nerfed a few spots (19 to 15), and now we are down another four that hadn't popped in 15+ hours. Feels like it's getting back to normal, huh? They hit a home run instead of a double with this nerf bat. And they are the opposing team... It seems the nodes that are left are still spawning decent, but the overall spawn locations dropped. again.
Since I dislike the monotony of herbing unless I absolutely need it (I spent soooo many hours in Wintergrasp with both herbs and ore you don't even want to know..), and after seeing the suspected nerf of my new fav place, I got the ban stick myself. I hit the hour mark, tapped PrntScr, and was regretting about telling you folks what I have found while with tears in my eyes, I mail the 14 stacks I received to my "milling" toon. /cry.
To make it even worse, I cannot give you exact numbers as I musta (in my 2am stupor) missed tapped the PrntScr as when I woke up this morning, the SS was no where to be found. Once again, /cry....
To sum it up, does anyone have a box of kleenex for poor Alto?

4.0.6 Herbalism After Hotfix - Update on Whiptail in Uldum
*Edit- Big Jimm over at P3P just hit on an article, with us both posting the exact same time (ok, within a few minutes or so). Go over and read his post, you can click anywhere in this article for the link. This is just my opinion, but I think his is a better read than mine... Go check it out! And Jimm, if you read this, thanks for the link love! I will try my best to do better so I can get on your blogroll too..I promise.
On my post from yesterday, there was a comment left by Anonymous saying:
"Must have been a software burp that took time to catch cause it's nerfed now... back to normal. "
Anon, I have to agree to disagree on that. After completing an hour "run", There were a few things that I noticed. For one, out of the 19 nodes throughout my "spot" (ok, there are 20, but one has a three mob "timewaster" on it, so I only count my 19), four nodes did not show up. Not once. All the others once again fluctuated on a 6 to 12 minute timer on average, with a few "proccing" on a 2-3 minute and once again, a few that hit "instant" spawns (4 times within the hour, I counted this time...).
So to go further into what I see as a difference, Blizz more or less "nerfed" the spawn locations versus the actual spawn "procs". So basically, a 20% nerf. So once again, you get another screenie for an explaination. Pre-nerf, I had 241 Whiptail and 144 Volatile Life. Post-nerf, 347 and 125.
*Ok, I just noticed my math was WAY off on my post yesterday. Jeezus.....lol. My screenie even shows 441, and I wrote 241. What a slacker this Alto guy is. How does he even profit on the AH? There are plenty of Grammar Police, where is teh Math Police? See what happens when I don't have an addon to do stuff for me? Hahaha.
So using the corrected number, (using a calc now...) I am figuring that the "nerf" lost on Whiptail is about 22%, and the change on Volatile Life is around 14%, so my previous guess is correct, that blizz just nerfed the locations, not the "proc" rates.
Ok bloggers, who else is an herbie and is gonna check the Heartblossom? Faid, did you farm since the recent hotfix? Did you have any changes? Believe me folks, if I had the time, I would update those locations too, but family always comes first. You guys are a close second though. Alright, maybe third. Ok, Ok, at least top ten. =)
So, in conclusion, I am still getting more Whiptail than previous to 4.0.6 in this location. So to me, it is still a viable place to "waste" my time, as 4K is still good GPH, and it gets me away from my normal PvP.
Are you guys tired of hearing about 4.0.6 yet? Am I leaving anything out that you want to know? Holler, let me know. I will do my best to get some scoops for ya. Now I did hear that there is a dungeon that seems to have a droprate for one of the new enchants, but I need to find out for sure before I tell ya....I guess I just kinda did. Well, did you hear anything? Tonight, I might try (note I said try) to solo. Ugh. Fun stuff.....

Alto vs. Alto - My 4.0.6 Predictions and Results
I looked back to last weeks post on Stockpiling for 4.0.6 and compared my pre-patch post to what really has happened. Who will win? PrePatch Alto or PostPatch Alto? I know who I bet on.....
"I only really recommend this if you are willing to pay an exorbitant price for the new formula's, as they will hit the AH, and I feel that 10-15K will be a starting price for these"
As you know, I picked up a meta cut yesterday, and tried to sell for an "exorbitant" amount. Didn't fly. I ended up learning it, and am doing okay, sold 11 to date (decent profits, so far 10K out of the 12 I paid for it, so I am confident that my decision to keep it was worth it) but the thought of a 100K flip just held me back for a few hours. Do you blame me? What if it was you? Would you have done different?
"You have heard me talk about stocking up on Shadowspirit Diamonds. Yup. I got a few, actually about 50K in them as well. These will be a big hitter for me come 4.0.6 drop."
I advised a few times to stock up on Shadowspirit Diamonds, and if you happened to be on my server, that was correct. Even more than I expected, they are floating around 140g over list pre-patch. Hows your server look? Did you follow my advice and profit? Or not?
"Now there are some out there that are Stockpiling Volatile Life. Not that I am against this, but I feel the prices are not going to move signifigantly enough to take up the space in my bank for this."
Now I wasn't a follower of the thoughts that Volatile Life would be a great investment, once again, those that did know their AH, so it was viable for them. I didn't. Bad mistake. Kinda. Yesterday, they hit 14g from a pre patch price of 8g. The thing was, I checked a few times throughout the day (no daughter yesterday, so I actually had time to WoW and blog it up!) and it seemed that the same sellers had the same amounts up, so very little movement (other than the bully I mentioned yesterday). A day after patch back to normal. Now with all the stock that's out there, I believe it will drop further.
How's your Volatile Lifes? Did you stock up? Did you not? Hows your prices looking now?
"Also, the new meta gems have a requirement of 3 red gems equipped, so stock up on the Inferno Ruby gems as well, as I see their sales to be consistent, and raise a bit in price when the patch hits"
This is a double edged sword. I took this screenie tonight, and by tomorrow night after raiding (and new gear is "found") the prices will rise by about 20%. They were last night, and that's a given on tues, thurs, and sat, as those are the raid nights on my server. Now by raising "a bit", I am right and wrong. As you can see, there is quite a few in the gem game, and I am not. Why? I didn't realize till just now actually. I didn't post any.
*Edit- Smudger at Warcraft Corner posted on his Inferno Ruby sales, it's nice to know that someone got some change out of these!
So I guess the good thing is my cuts sold, but now after I am done with this you know where I am heading....sometimes it gets hard trying to run multiple markets while only having a few minutes to log in and get mail, and repost (especially my "normal" routine is twice a day, once in morning, once in the evening). Now I might get lucky and hit a midday, and it usually makes the difference in my "openings".
Overall, my "edu-micated" guesses were a little better than I thought, spot on. Now you all know that this is obviously on my AH. And you know from reading my blog, thats what I talk about. Your server could be 180 degrees from this, and all my information I post for that matter. I try to be as relevant with the scoops I provide you as I can be, by talking more about things that aren't server specific (although my screenshot prices are), but as a "generic" how-to for you to take my advice and apply it to your prices you see daily.
So how is 4.0.6 working out for you? Any positives? Any negatives? How's the gold flowing? Or is it trickling?

Whip It, Whip It Real Good! The 4.0.6 Uldum Herbalism "Nobody" Spot
As a continuance to my 4.0.6 post yesterday, it's 3am now and it's so hard to stop farming, as I have been hitting 4K per hour..... I think we have another round of "Happy Herbing", just like the beginning of Cata.
I was so busy farming mobs for the enchant and design drops that I didn't even check for nerfs on anything else. As I was working on my non-stop updated post from yesterday, Faids blog popped up on my screen, she was basically in a frenzy of happiness about the southern Uldum farming spot she was raking in the herbs with.
If you read my post from last night, you would see that I tried there, and there was too much competition, so I took my herbie/orie to farm up some Heartblossom in Deepholm. Did pretty well, however I didn't time any GPH. I was also picking up Elementium and Obsidium as I saw them, and was smashing a few mobs here and there, so it would have been a drag to try to figure it all out.
After finially grabbing a bite to eat around 10ish, I took a bit of a break, dropped my meta down to 75K (I got a call that my bud got one on ally side for 25K, and he learned it instantly, so that means two on my server alone in 12 hours of the patch being released. Now I know there are a TON of folks farming it, so that would affect the drop, but come on Blizz, I wanted something special).....wondering how rare it really is now.

See all them little green circles? Yeah, nodes. A few of them it registered I hit 28 times. In two hours. Crazy? Loved every minute of it!
If you aren't familiar with where I am talking, it's smack dab in the middle'ish of Uldum. Everyone is hitting the upper "lanes" and the lower marsh, I figured I would hit the middle. And boy was I right. No one. A "once in a while" flyby was all I saw. Now this is when I enjoy farming. Plenty of herbs. No more Taurens! A few feet away from the node these buggers were already picking. I am tempted to spend $25 just to flip my herbie/ore toon to a tauren.
But even without the "Quickie Pickie" racial herbalism, I was still able to pull in 241 Whiptail and 144 Volatile Life in an hour. Total value on my server? 4100g. Not too shabby. In fact, I haven't seen that on a "simple" farm since the first two days of Cata release.
Now is where the whole Volatile Life stockpile comes into question. You know from reading my past posts, that is one thing that was around the blogosphere that I didn't fall into, but on my server that proved wrong, as the average price went from 8g pre-patch to 14 all afternoon (I did watch here and there, and it seemed that very few were selling, and after further investigation, it looked like a "bully" was buying out anything below him- keeping the price where he wanted it. Good job! Nice to see that!).
Before logging off, it was rolling around 12g each, due to the fact that the farmers are dumping the AH (and the "bully" wasn't logged on to help it). I am hoping by midday it will be back below 10g, and when the rates get nerfed by Blizz on their hotfix (I believe as early as today), we will see them steadily rise, but I don't see them hitting 14 again. But I could be wrong. Again.
How did you all make out? My shadowspirit diamonds gained about 50g overnight, so that will help, and it's killing me not knowing what to do with that meta recipe. Still no horde has it, as none are in the AH. What do ya'll think?

Alto vs. 4.0.6 - Herbalism in Uldum and Deepholm and Design: Burning Shadowspirit Diamond?!
Ok, ok. All of a sudden I am versus everyone, everything. Well, lately I think that's just how not just my WoW life has been, but "real" life as well. I won't go into that, because that isn't why you are here.
This is going to be an update post throughout the night, as I get information, you will be the first to know. So let it be that if you are reading this right now, you need to keep checking back. If you see something that I don't hit on, feel free to update in the comments below.
I am still on my search for the "rare" beasts that has been mentioned in the PTR notes. No such luck as of yet. But I have seen a few things:
4.0.6 Changes Seen So Far
PvP prices raised, 1K more conquest points.
The add-on Bagnon is broken. *Edit- It has been updated
Spawn rates on Herbs Nerfed? Nerf Faids!Azuriel just noted that the Daily Transmute for Alchemists is Busted....Anyone else see that?
I don't think blizz planned this one out too well. I mean...... .02 sec. Really? Cmon folks.....
If you are a 'scribe, get to the Trainer, as they added a new glyph in the patch, and toss it on the AH. Quickly. If you don't, someone will beat you.
Sinzi Sparkscribe. Ink Trader. Org. No more needing to hit up Dal. I am sure there is an ally mirror of a trader there as well. We knew this was coming (once again forgot who coined it) Figured you might want a little screenie anyways....
Just as a reminder, check your Blackfallow Ink and Inferno Ink prices to see if a flip is in order (10 Blackfallow per Inferno) to make some coin.
Sarana Damir: Alliance Side:
Thanks Alberthus! I don't play on ally side anymore, so I appreciate the pic!
Thanks Alberthus! I don't play on ally side anymore, so I appreciate the pic!
Yeah, I really hate TSM. Have I said that already? I had a few Blackfallow's in my bag, and upon checking Sinzi's wares, I walked away and saw this. Really? This addon is now deleted.....I did nothing for this to happen, no clicking, nothing. Total Bullshit.
Now I hope you listened to me when I told you about saving up three Jewelcrafter Tokens to get this Design, because in the time that I bought it, crafted a few (5), tossed em on the AH and barked once before hitting my farm spot (see below) to test the "new" droprate of Tiny Treasure Chests, I had sold all of them. At 359g each..... =)
If you didn't listen, do so now. Someone might have beat you to the punch though....
Ok, something I was looking forward to wasn't the "reverse" nerf with the Potion of Treasure Finding. You nerfed it alright. The wrong way. Unless I was totally unlucky, but doubt it due to a blue drop. I hit up my Hyjal spot (you all know my fav farm spot- still not changed with the respawn rate, btw), popped a pot, and got 10 chests. Uhm. Not what I expected, as I pounded the mobs there (look below for that one). So pffft. Gonna try again after I finish this post, and will update.
Nerf Faids did a post on possible "over" nerf of Heartblossom and Whiptail. Now I had too much competition in Uldum to check, but I reset Gatherer when I noticed there was only one cat running in Deepholm (think he's a bot anyways, takes alot of time sitting at a node before picking it, and didn't respond to me...). But here's a screenie. Seems better, but I haven't really farmed herbs for quite some time, unless we are talking TolBarad. I took a flight around the map, and this seems to be the spot.....
Nerf Faids hit up this spot in lower Uldum, it's crazy spawns. I finially got a chance to get down there, and even though there is competition, I am still getting great rates. I am with Faid when she said that the Volatile Life stockpilers better start worrying, as even though I have seen a slight rise in price, I am getting around 100 per hour currently between uldum and deepholm.
Can we say "Twilight Highlands Nerf" again? Jeebus. No daughter tonight, I know where I am hanging until the hotfix tomorrow, we all know that's coming. Get while the gettin's good folks!

I think I will give it an hour or two. What do you all think? Seen any yet? Wondering about droprates....
As I mentioned, I will keep you posted on the findings throughout the night, and it will be on this post, so if you are searching too, check back frequently...

Updated 4.0.6 PTR Changes Jan 24, 25- Arcaeology....Again?! WoEZoe!
To go along with my normal updates for ya'll, Blizz just released more information changes from the PTR. Most are character changes, but they have posted a bit more:
It has already been spoke about around the blogoshphere (you know me, I mentioned this back on my post PTR Update Jan 14) but it seemed to have hit our friend, Miss Mediocre, who hit a popular post on it, "Dear Blizz, you kind of owe me 3500g".
What I am talking about is the Archaeology artifacts and how the prices are once again changing. The main one that changed, is the Word of Empress Zoe (or the "correct" Alto term of WoEZoe...haha), which was talked about vendoring for 1000g, Blizz has nerfed their own test realm, and it is now 375g. Hmmm.....
Everything from the Dazzling Sapphire Pendant (that "used" to sell for 98c will be 98s the lowest of the lows for changes) to the WoEZoe (see? funny huh?) that gains 365g from the current sell price. There are quite a few that have changed to upwards of 100g, some hitting 200g. Huge difference Blizz, that's one way to get folks out there digging.
So nothing too big happening elsewhere that I can see, (other than some numbers tossed around on a few potions) but you can always check out the Blizz post here.

Jan 18 Hotfixes and How They Affect You
Not a whole lot of Gold"ish" changes, but there is a major one, Lifebound Alchemist Stones (see below for the new scoop).
Professions
Now this point is a long shot, but I believe that you will see a slight drop in herbs/Volatile Life due to this. Remember, Blizz is planning on more Alchemist stones in 4.0.6, and from what I understand, they are D/E'able. So get while the getting is good if the mats do start dropping in price. Because we all know soon they will be right back up. Ya Hear?
Arenas
Well folks, that's what popped out for me, but as usual, there are others that I did not post over at Blizzard's Hotfix, check it out.
Professions
- Archaeology keystone fragments can no longer be prospected.
- Lifebound Alchemist Stones can no longer be disenchanted.

Because we all know soon they will be right back up. Ya Hear?
- Darkmoon Card: Volcano now triggers from periodic damage.
- Free Action Potions now cannot be used above level 80.
Arenas
- Ring of Valor has been temporarily disabled until select bugs can be fixed in an upcoming patch.
Well folks, that's what popped out for me, but as usual, there are others that I did not post over at Blizzard's Hotfix, check it out.

PTR Update Jan 14- Archaeology - Vendors - Stranglethorn Vale
Only a few changes (and I am a day off getting it to you), but I don't want one to slip by....do you blame me? Nothing really major from what I can see, but I am really interested in the Arch "values"...similar to a 5K card? Not getting your hopes up, but I think Blizz has something up their sleeve for adding to this "profession", and this is just a small start.
Archaeology:
- The sell value of all common artifacts has been doubled, while a small subset of common artifacts have had their sell value increased far beyond that.
To keep them or toss in bank and sell? Six in one hand, half a dozen in the other. Decisions, Decisions....I would keep them in case they are one of the "small subset" Blizz mentioned...
Items:
Items:
- The Honor Commodities and Justice Commodities Vendors now sell raw tradeskill materials. These are not intended to be a cost-effective source of these materials, but an option for players with lots of Justice or Honor Points who have already purchased all of the gear that interests them.
Quests and Creatures:
- Chief Engineer Scooty, formally of Booty Bay, has packed up his Gnomeregan teleporter and lugged it up to Grom'gol in Northern Stranglethorn to better accommodate his Horde customers.

Here Fishie, Fishie, Fishie! Undocumented Hotfix: Spawnrate Changed on Shipwreck Debris Pools
To start off, I just want to remind you to look to the left of this post, and click "follow" to be added to my blog (if you already have, ignore this). If you are new to the site, please take some time to run through some of my older posts. Feel free to comment and I will do my best to answer or reply as soon as I can. Enough of that....now, onto what you came here for:
The title says it all. I had a post a few weeks ago about fishing in Tol Barad (I originally read a post on The Gnomish Coin about farming Azshara's Veil there, but I was having issues with other herbalists farming against me, so I took a hand at fishing, you can see my original post here). Every few days, I like to go there, and if you read my previous post about hitting your "farming" locations post patch/server downtime (to see if there are any changes), this is just part of my WoW ritual.

Right away, I noticed that the Shipwreck Debris Pools
were allowing me multiple casts. Not one time
(out of nine pools) was I allowed less than two casts.
The first couple, I was thinking maybe it was just luck.
Then I decided it wasn't. Blizz must have changed the "proc rate" on the pools. So what about the Fathom Eels? Nothing changed, other that I had two procs of 3 (yes, 3) Volatile Waters that I had fished up. Nice. That might have been luck..... So off I go, with a fishing pole in one hand, and my keyboard in the other. Since this would be a blogpost, I clicked on the timer bar by the mini map, and started the stopwatch...One hour to go.....Here are the results:
Shipwreck Debris Pools: 9
Contents:
Volatile Water= 8 @ 20g - 160g
Azshara's Veil= 11 @ 9.5g - 104.5g
Sealed Crates= 12
What was in the sealed crates you ask?
Heavy Savage Leather= 7 @ 55g- 385g
Embersilk Cloth= 39 @ 5g- 195g
Volatile Water= 6 @ 20g- 160g
Volatile Air= 4 @ 45g- 180g
Obsidium Ore= 22 @ 4g- 88g
Twilight Jasmine= 7 @ 9g- 63g
Pyrite Ore= 3 @ 22g- 66g
Elementium Ore= 6 @ 4g- 24g
Ok, so I didn't add up the gold in them. Don't hate. I am far from perfect. But I did add up the "junk". Basically a bunch of booze, but I am still wondering why they are still full (not empty). I know when I fish (outside WoW), I have to drink, not because I am an alcoholic (I am not) but because if I don't catch any fish, at least I catch a buzz....
Rumsey Rum= 3
I didn't factor these into the total gold count due to they are copper and silvers vendored. And I drank them up anyways. Nothing like drunk WoW fishing, kinda gets hard to see the bobber with the screen fuzzed over....
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fathom Eel Pools: 35
Contents:
Fathom Eel= 71 @ 9g- 639g
Volatile Water= 10 @ 20g- 200g
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now I did mention that I picked up herbs as well:
Azshara's Veil: 39 nodes
Contents:
Azshara's Veil= 105 @ 9.5g= 997.5g
Volatile Life= 47 @ 9g= 423g
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Not too shabby.....3262gph (take out a few hundred for AH fees- but it is still a 3K per hour farm)....Now take in a few factors. There were others in the area, although I was still busy the whole time (only time wasted was between pools or nodes, and avoiding the shark....), I am on a PVE server (so no possibility of being ganked), and I was utlizing Path of Frost on my DK (quicker water movement). If you want to make a bit more gold, you can always utilize the mats you just farmed with professions (cooking up a few Skewered Eel or Seafood Magnifique Feasts)
Feel free to use these numbers and mats (if you fish and herb at the same time) and apply them to your server. I imagine the prices overall will be pretty close, give or take a hundo or so. This was and still is a viable farming spot for GPH.
So what are you doing? Get out your pole and go fishin! Go! Now!

Reading Over the 4.0.6 PTR Patch Notes- What to Know and How it Affects You
To start off, I just want to remind you to look to the left of this post, and click "follow" to be added to my blog. If you are new to the site, please take some time to run through some of my older posts. Feel free to comment and I will do my best to answer or reply as soon as I can. Enough of that....now, onto what you came here for:
Many rare creatures that went into hiding upon Deathwing's emergence into Azeroth have made a return! In addition to finding new homes in a post-Cataclysm world, they drop new, improved loot, provide a healthy experience bonus, and respawn much more quickly when killed. Happy hunting!
Farmers, rejoice! This is great information, I am loving it! This will definitely get me exploring more, as there is one thing I love in WoW more than making gold...finding rares (as you can see in a previous post). And a "quicker" respawn rate? LOVING IT!
A socket has been added to all crafted epic armor pieces that did not already have one.
Jewelcrafters, here is Blizzards Part I of their belated gift to us! I will be (starting now) making a small stockpile of gems for this patch (small stockpile? isn't that like saying jumbo shrimp? well, kinda. Don't stop selling your gems, but also don't let yourself ever have zero stock. Even though my best guess is that 4.0.6 is an easy two weeks to a month away, you don't want to be left out here). There are a few more changes listed below:
New meta gems have been added:
The changes are kind of generic, but the part that sticks out to me is highlighted...Being "unbound" and can basically be a "world Cata drop" off creatures (blizz, does that mean not off humanoids?) Watch for an easy 2-5K price in the AH for these recipies (might be quite a bit more depending on the droprate- I will keep you updated when I find out- I have a toon in PTR right now, so I will holler if I find one out there). I will keep a stock of 3 Tokens for the new dream emerald cut though, as should you.
The number of herbs required to create flasks has been reduced, while the Volatile Life needed has been increased slightly.
I don't believe that this will have much affect with the current market. There will always be herb farmers, as it is a great gold making profession, and herbs are volatile, meaning twofold. One, herbs are not only used by Alchemists (supply), and you can only sell so many pots (demand), and two, every herb farmer has TONS of Volatile Lifes for sale. This change will not make a huge difference in prices (imo).
The drops from Tiny Treasure Chests have been improved slightly.
Other than the Rare Mobs change (see above), this is great for me. I enjoy farming certain mobs (and can do an hour straight before the boredom sits in- so perfect for me that the Potion of Treasure Finding has an hour duration), and have already been using the potions religiously while farming, they already give great profits (around 600-800g profit per), and if they are "slightly" improving the droprate, then that will "slightly" improve my gold profits. Good thing.
Volatile Air now has an increased chance of dropping from rich mining nodes and Pyrite.
This I like. Volitale Air is and always will be a profitable farm (see JMTC post on farming it in Uldum) and I don't forsee the price dropping significantly, but you will see a slight drop (I am guessing 10%) from the current prices.
Spawn rates at Rustberg Village have been increased.
I feel like a noob for not knowing where this place is, I don't believe I have been there let alone farmed there, but I always like to see when spawn rates are increased.
There you go, that is what I have seen in the patch notes (full list can be seen here). Hope you can remember some of these a month from now....you might want to tab this post in favorites for a quick glance before they go live. As usual, I will consistently update you with anything new I see.
Alot of blogs are covering this content, but if you know me, this information is vital to playing the auction house, and if it affects me, it will affect you. So, without further ado, here you go!
First off, I want to tell you that Blizzard is doing alot of changes to the UI's, so upon login, be prepared to have all your addons show "out of date" (and possibly not usable) when the patch hits. This is extremely important to the folks out there that rely on them. (Yours truly included)Farmers, rejoice! This is great information, I am loving it! This will definitely get me exploring more, as there is one thing I love in WoW more than making gold...finding rares (as you can see in a previous post). And a "quicker" respawn rate? LOVING IT!
