I am Tired of Sherbert, Give Me Vanilla Please!

After I reposted my auctions in Org yesterday, I decided to check out some old "new" content, do some soul searching in the game, attempt on queueing up for a few randoms in the process.

I was thinking about doing one of my good ol' recipe/vendor runs, so I hit the FP with a destination unknown. Now since "The Shattering", they have moved a few things around, and I wanted to check on my ol route that I used to use for picking up and "flipping" items. This is a taste of the first part of my recipe snatch route:

So I start at Winterspring, and I noticed very few changes. It's as if Blizzard forgot about it. There are a few mobs in the area that are new, but nothing too major. Blah. So I go into town, and pick up a few recipies there (no, not the hammer):

After grabbing them, I go off searching for anything new (again). I go to my farm spot for Icy Chill Enchant (which I believe they took out of the game) and see a few new mobs there, do a quick wowhead check, and see they are nothing special, so I move on...As I work my way across the frozen plains, I happen to see yet another Silverbound Treasure Chest tucked away under a tree.....

Nothing major inside, but an easy 150g worth of sales, so notta sosa badda..

After opening the chest, I decide to get back to town and re-up the limited recipies, then take the FP to Moonglade, as that is Stop II.. The Formula: Runed Arcanite is a "blocker" when leveling up Enchanting, so it's a defitnite pick. And if you have no competition, an easy 100+ gold profit. =)

Right across the room, there is a little purple haired queenie selling her wares, and once again, you can make a bit of coin by conning her out of her limited items she carries:

Now this has been a seller since back in the original WoW for me. Geenia will carry a limited either "green" or "red" Hanbok, and basically all these sell around the 20ish gold price. Yeah, that means don't buy the "royal", as you will be lucky to get your funds back (and for that matter, I won't buy the Dark Green either). For quick sales, you might go with the 10-15g means with the White Hanbok, but the limited red or green will be a more consitent sale, as it is a more "rare" item.

If you haven't already, go out and getcha Vanilla Cone, and enjoy the profits!



Flippin' Recipies - No Noggenfogger for You! *And.....4.1.0 on PTR!

Just before posting this morning, Blizz just added patch 4.0.1 on the PTR. While this is both good and bad news for some, (especially those selling current epics). The positives are in the test realm, you need a i354 to queue for the new heroics, so I can see the crafted epics and BoE's to start selling a bit better as people want to be the first to get into there...even into the patch.

The bad is, well, they are only telling us a little bit so far. Now before you freak out about the return of ZA in heroic form, note that they announced you will not have a chance to grab any of the bears that dropped originally....ho hum.

For the PTR notes, feel free to check with wowhead, as there isn't enough out yet to utilize a full post!

This post is directly involved with my Coaching program that you see me advertise above this post and on a seperate page. You see, a few weeks ago, I had a customer that had used the program, as he was having issues making gold and couldn't find niche no matter how hard he tried, he would only make a few K's a week. He mentioned that since our appointment, he is sitting around 240K (the highest he has ever been) and it would be 360K yet he bought a Spectral Tiger...nice, huh? Well enough with the advertising there, lets get to the point. I keep in contact with these folks, as they know there is an open end on my side for further questions, so I get quite a few emails and skypes from them asking a question or two, or just updating me on what's up......

Earlier this evening, I saw my Skype pop up saying I had a message, and I thought I would share [with you] a brief conversation I had with him:

[8:05:21 PM] Hmm quick question, I made 4 BoE's for about 8-9k, I sold one for 4k, this guy said he'd give me 3k for a BoE chest? a bit low u think?
[8:06:26 PM] Altos Goldish Advice: yup. whats the AH price? How much did you spend on your mats for that one?
[8:07:11 PM] in AH its 4.5k. I said id go 4k, and he said 3k, the orbs were 300g a piece, so thats 900g there.
[8:07:23 PM] I farmed the fires, and bought like 20 of the airs around 15g a piece.

Now I hope you are understanding where this is going. Since Cata, and really since Wrath, there have been quite a few people that have "powerleveled" professions, and didn't take the time to get the un-needed recipies for their prof. And you can see from the conversation, he had checked with three of   them on his server, and none had the Recipe: Transmute Arcanite.

This reminded me to do the same. Tanaris has always been a hotspot (really any of the "neutral" AH locations are as well) but I am foucusing on Gadgetan.

Instead of saying, "go here, buy this, go there, buy that, bla, bla, bla, you are just gonna cruise around, and buy everything. Limited items pick up the one, and the other recipies/formula/patterns, grab a stack of five. Make sure that your bags are empty, as they add up quite fast...if they fill, there is a mailbox nest to the inn to utilize.

Jim had a great tip on grabbing vendor goods, there is an addon that's available called Recipe Profit, and as long as you are using Gathermate, it will show the limited supply vendor recipies to your mininmap. Thanks for the comment Jim!

Now there are others, I just didn't get all the screenshots, you know the drill. The main focus we have is the Transmute Arcanite. Now of course, you want to check your AH and see if they are up for sale, and I can basically say that unless you have die hard vendor snatchers, you will probably be rolling solo. Mark the price with what you feel fair (I just said a straight 100g, but do your bidding, you can choose anything...it is tought to go with too much more than that, just try to keep one listed at all times).

Oh, before I forget to tell you, don't you forget your Noggenfogger while you are there. Can't forget that. Don't forget that. Now that you have stock, go find the Time Lost Proto Drake..... =)

Readers Choice- Part II & Farming "Darting Hatchling" Pet

Hey folks, here we are, two days into my toon, I am already running into issues. My daughter is sick, so I have extremly limited time to even log in. I had about thirty minutes today to "attempt" to log onto three toons, set and reset the auctions (I did a horrible job, I only reposted on one toon...more on that in a minute) and try to spend a few minutes at least on my project DK.

Luckily, I am still able to post this evening, but who knows what tomorrow brings, as she is getting worse. You guys are part of my online family, but my RL family has to take priority. Sorry folks...Well, enough of that, let's get to reading, huh?!

Due to a comment made on my post on Part 1, I decided to hit another area that I farm the hatchling pets (here you go Kammler), in fact this one is my favorite of all of them (as with most buyers too), the Darting Hatchling. See the sexxy smoke trail? That's why they (and I) love this pet.

Now to get this pet, you must first know that the spawns are on 6-8hr timers, so if you go there and see no spawns after looking around the area I list, you need to check back. I used to park toons in each area (when they were going for 2K) and log in just to grab them, log out, next toon, rinse, repeat.

Once again, they have a "sparkly" trail that grabs your attention that it is there (if you don't notice a huge nest with flippin pink eggs sticking out of it...).

When you are farming this pet, you will need to go to Dustwallow Marsh (Kalimdor) just to the East of Blackhoof Village. Once again, this "drop" is all around the area that I have highlighted.

You will know you are close when you see the dinosaurs running around. Check around every brush, tree, and hill that's in the area. Now there is a rare mob, aptly named "Dart" that roams around, he will give you a freebie green, so knock him out....(I guess it's a her if she lays eggs...my bad).

Now for the quick update on my DK.

Other than randow drops from leveling up my herbalism and mining, the drop "pet" that I posted previously, there is a recipe that I sold, Rainbow Fin Albacore.

When starting a new toon, it is a must to get some starter cash to  "flip" vendor items. In this case, 4s to 4g. The great thing, it's not even a "limited" item.
Snatch it up from your local fishing vendor in any major city.

Right outside the AH is a Fishing Supplies Vendor by the name of Shankys. Shankys sells three Cooking recipes: Recipe: Mithril Head Trout, Recipe: Rainbow Fin Albacore, and Recipe: Rockscale Cod.

Aight, that's the update, one set of AH and a couple hundo gold. I did have to invest a bit of time leveling my gathering profs, I am up to 5 hours playtime (with no push on leveling....yet). How did this noob blogger do meshing two posts in one? Knowing When to Say When.....AH Bullying (special guest: Beastie Boys)

Now there has been quite some talk about beating the competition with buying out their auctions, and listing for higher. "Owning the market". "Bullying the competitors". No matter what you call it, you can win.....or lose. I guess it comes down to who is the better bettor...I say I had good odds today. Read on, young whippersnappers....

A while back I posted about purchasing items from vendors and reselling them. There are alot of different ways to do this, and in that post, I spoke about the Inscription Vendor you can find in any major city. Now the Dust of Disappearance you can normally make a few gold on (depending on competition pricing), but this post isn't directed at that. It is about the Vanishing Powder, which you can pick up 5 for 36s. Pretty cheap, huh? Yeah. Today, upon logging in, I ran up to get my normal stack of DoD to "flip", and decided to pick up a few stacks of the Vanishing Powder.

I go to the AH, and see no one is selling. So I toss them up for a very "reasonable" flip. I do an AH scan, and I check back about 20 minutes later, and see they all sold. Hmm. Ok. Normally doesn't happen THAT quick. So I hit the vendor again, grab up a few more stacks, and as I get ready to list them......

I notice that someone else just hopped into the game, and put a ton of them up. C'mon man....supply and demand? Not sure what their thinking was, but hey, by all means. So I toss up a few more, undercutting by "almost" half, and.....You know whats coming next, right?

Yup. Sold em all out. And who was the buyer? You guessed it. So what's an Alto to do? Try it again....I buy two stacks, put them on the AH, and what do I get?

But it couldn't be...not again....This time I will give you two guesses, and I imagine you will get it on the first try....(change of subject quick...does anyone listen to Directv music channels? It's really funny, but Sabotage from Beastie Boys is playing right now. Kinda fits...Hahahaha.) Alright, back to my post...Where was I? Oh yeah, Guess who????

Wow. You are right! Again! How did you guess? It was once again the "bully" pushing me out of "his" market. Alright. I can understand doing this type of business with, uhm, let's just pick a random crafted market, Netherweave Bags, because in all reality, there is NOT an unlimited supply like in this situation. And for a whole 7ish silver apiece, this cat just bought 60 of these from me, so basically handed me over 270ish gold.

Now don't get me wrong, this style of AH'ing can work to your advantage, but I don't recommend doing it in this form. I mean, a month'ish ago when I posted my original article on selling these, I noted that they really only sell on weekends, I can normally sell them for around 2-3 gold each, pulling in 40ish gold profit per 20 stack. But within an hour, I sold 60 to one guy. All due to his "bully" tactic.

To all reading this, you have probably done this or been a "victim" of AH bullying yourself. At some point. It happens quite a bit with the Mysterious Fortune Cards, but once again, they are "limited" crafts. Normally, your competition will only have limited amounts, so you can use and abuse as much as you desire (or feel you are able to "risk"). Did I mention crafted goods sell quite often? These powders do not have the demand to play this game. He is going to have to sell a few weekends worth of these to just "hit" what he lost to me in an hour by trying to "bully" me out.

Now I could be completely wrong in this whole post, and wasted both mine and your time, maybe he had a hidden agenda that I wasn't aware of or haven't seen....but I doubt this.

I want to end this post by saying thanks to my unscrupulous bully, and let them know that at any time, they can feel free to "donate" to the Alto Fund. Thank you sir. Or madam.

Hotfix missed by Alto- Vendors in Twilight Highlands and Limited Items

After running to Twilight Highlands this evening to check on the limited quantity reagents (Una Kobuna), I see that they are not "rare" or limited quantity items anymore (I must have missed out on that one...).




So I bought up a few stacks, and tossed them on the AH. Within a round (about 15 minutes of posting) I had sold 5 of the Scavenged Dragon Horns for 120g each (quick 500g profit). So I guess I am not the only one that missed this one. Take the portal, visit your friendly vendors, and get back to the AH.....

But What About Dalaran? Gold, That is.....

Ok. Who still goes there? This guy. In Dal, there are plenty of vendors to utilize, and here are two I am focusing on for AH sales, and they sell. Especially if you offer them in trade (just be prepared to answer "where do you get that?"). Alot of items like these people have no idea where they are from, and usually consider them a drop, or a holiday item.

The first vendor I hit is the toy vendor. Here, you can buy a stack or ten of each, and just leave them in your bank picking them up here and there when they sell in the AH, and try to keep 2 up at all times. Since these are mere silver to purchase, they aren't too much of a profit (I usually sell them for 20ish, but since Cata they are 100+g).

The next vendor is right next door, and here you will invest a bit more gold, however the return is much higher (as you can see in the auctioneer details). I guess when I started writing this blog I didn't realize that people would read it, let alone find my toon. When I received the tell, I am not sure what was funnier: that someone actually read my blog or that someone laughed about me being the author. Out loud. Haha.

But I figured that since they were the first to find me they got my coveted 1K card. Who will find me next? Maybe I should change the blog title to Waldo's Gold"ish" advise...
