Heavenly Shards - 4500g in 10 minutes?

Heavenly Shards are one of the most needed items currently, yet their supply is a lot more limited now when people simply don't walk into heroics anymore! This can be told by looking at their price also. For a few days these shards have been selling for about 90-100g, more if there's less available.

Finding another use for that cheap ore!
Professions needed: Blacksmithing & Enchanting

Obsidium and Elementium Ore is cheap as dirt these days, and the bars are more valuable even if taking their material costs into account. If this is the case on your realm also, it's wise to buy ores instead and smelt them as needed.

This method focuses on creating and disenchanting either Stormforged Shoulders or Stormforged Legguards. Blacksmithing skill of 425 is needed to create these.

The raw materials are cheap!
  • 8 x Obsidium Ore
  • 16 x Elementium Ore
Total cost currently: 21g
Disenchant value currently:  95-380g

When disenchanted, you get 1-4 Heavenly Shards. Amount mostly depends on if you have bountiful bags guild perk.

Let's say you create 20 pants, disenchant them and get 50 Heavenly Shards and they sell for 95g currently. You'd be 4080g richer then you were before after negating the mat costs, assuming you don't get undercutted.

It's wise to put a short duration on your auctions so you don't have to wait 48 hours if you get undercutted. Or alternatively check from time to time if you should cancel and relist. :)

Reader Question- Is Crafted PvP Gear Dead in 4.2?

Hey Folks!

I thought I would "calm the storm" of a valuable market in Cata. One of my readers, Riffraph, noted that he has made a ton of bank from crafting PvP gear, and is worried about losing his "niche" market on his server with 4.2 and the better ilvl gear hitting the shelves.....tis true, that will change, but in a good way.

Without knowing what "set" he was working with, I know alot of folks that have made quite a bit of coin from them (or what is considered the PvP sets); Bloodied Pyrium, the Ornate Pyrium, Bloodied Dragonscale, Wyrmhide, Fireweave, etc.

Fear not, folks, although there is a "slight" change....

Once you download Patch 4.2, you will see your skills updated. No, not the skills you use to kill your squirrels while farming, but your crafted gear. Lemme go to wowhead and take a slice of their pie to explain (mouse-over the items for the new ilvl). This little list is also helpful for you 'smithers that are wondering what the cost for the full set is too. =)

The crafted pvp gear changes are going from the old (bloodied) i339 to the new (bloodthirsty) i358. What we are seeing is that the Firelands Raid "dropped" recipes are to be i378, epic crafted weapons are i365, respectively. What does this mean? Well, you should be absolutely killing the market with the new crafts that "magically" appear in your window. A big thanks to Blizz on that one. So craft it up, get em on the AH asap! Remember, if you aren't first in the gold game, you are last. Get the sales, keep the market, and watch the gold fly in!

Yeah. I figured. You already had it planned out to do this. For those that hadn't, here's a little checklist for you (new patch, first day):

--------------------------------------------------------

1. Open all craftable windows- what I mean here is get on your toons, see what's new or what has changed (especially in this case, see above).

2. Check trainer for....well....training. You would be surprised what shows up even if you are prepared from patch notes, blogs, etc.

3. Reset all your Auctions. I am sure to hear some flak on this one, but you want the freshest and bestest prices going. Quick sales= Quick gold= Quick recrafts= More gold. Don't fall into the "I double the price of "x" material, because sooner or later the ones under me will sell". Nope. With all the information that is out there on gold making, you cant risk it. Sell 10 of X item in the first day for 200g profit? Or sell one of X item in 10 days with 200g profit (because you weren't pushing the market, and it stabilized when yours didn't sell).

4. If you hadn't already, do a mini stockpile of the mats you need- on the market(s)with zero competition. Anytime I put a craftable item in the AH, I usually set two up for the same price, then have one in stock in my bag. When one sells, repost, then rock up another piece for your bags. Constant flow= Constant gold.

5. Keep tabs on Wowhead, MMOChampion, and Blogroll- This is a biggie. Once again, there is a ton of information that is out there, and you can't do everything at once. That's where the help comes in. There are great resources out there, make sure and use them!

6. Check Farm locations, usually herb and ore spots. This is a biggie. Now we know there are an absolute ton of dailies coming out, but if you go off the past information we have had, be it whiptail spawn-rates, ZG epics, etc, patches bring gold for farmers. Once again, keep on a lookout for these locations.

--------------------------------------------------------

There it is. Getcha ready for the patch, get logged in, and make some gold! Look for posts this week on the new scoops in 4.2 as they come out.

Oh, and if you didn't figure the answer for the question.......Hell's No's! It's gonna be just as good of a seller as the "old" sets! Getta move on, little doggie!

Stockpiling for 4.2- Tanks? You're Welcome!

Hey folks!

Instead of me hyping up what you are needing to stockpile for 4.2 and making a killer long post that you will only read part of, I am giving some link love to a few other bloggers, so we will see what they are looking for. After you do some clicking around, c'mon back and see what I am working with...

So what Blizz announced, or not really announced, is that you need to complete quests to even get into Firelands? Sounds vaguely familiar....Ok, let's get a bit further into what is out there...Patch 4.2 Preview, a Blizz video (below), and a bunch of comments everywhere. But frankly, I am basically as lost now as I was an hour ago when I started writing this post....- CONTINUED-

Mageshadow from JMTC- Stockpile TrueGold
Well folks today is a rather big gold making tip for patch 4.2. Patch 4.2 is bringing a ton of new recipes & I was browsing through some of ptrwowhead stuff and I was looking at Truegold. I found a number of items that will require insane amount of truegold in 4.2. I found a total of 7 Blacksmithing Craftables and 2 Engineering schematics that will need Truegold for 4.2. Below are all the items and their respective PTR Wowhead links. -CONTINUED-

I've been looking at the list of new profession recipes for patch 4.2 at Wowhead and have come up with a list of items to start stockpiling. Now the information we have so far is very prelimenary so this list is also preliminary, and might change as new information becomes available. If I change what I'll  be stockpiling I will make another post about it. -CONTINUED

I have been stockpiling trade goods in preparation for patch 4.2, with the various new items coming I intend to make a profit by preparing. Here are some screenshots of some of my current stockpiled materials [to give you an idea of what I think is worth Stockpiling]
I am sure there are more that have wrote a bit, so please holler in comments if I forgot about you and you have quality content, as these are just a few of the ones I have seen, and probably missed some others....
Alright, are you ready to hear what I am stockpiling? Drum roll, please......how about nothing?! I know, wait a sec, hear me out.
Through doing the "Shuffle", I have quite a few Blue Cata Gems (around a tab full) that are just collecting dust in a guild bank, which will be crafted and put on the AH, and I will probably be resetting the market on Inferno Rubies, Amberjewels, and Ocean Sapphires for those in need:

I also keep a normal Stockpile (if you will) of Volatiles. Although small quantities, these are mainly for when I see the prices fluctuate, I will post them up or buy them out. One that I have been holding onto is Volatile Earth. Why is that? Well, for our fellow Plate Tanks. There is a "new" leg armor that will be available, the Drakehide Leg Armor. Those that read the patch notes know that in 4.2, well....there are some changes. Instead of me explaining, here's a few comments from wowhead:
By Orranis (2·13·47) 11 days ago (Patch 4.1.0)
This is the obvious step taken to make tank pants enchants not worthless after the change to Agility not providing dodge in 4.2.

By Nathanyel (3·24·277) 10 days ago (Patch 4.1.0)
Of course this only applies to the plate tanks, bears are still better off with a Charscale Leg Armor - you get less Dodge out of the Agility than with this one, but the Agility also gives you Crit and AP, which improve your Savage Defense.

See where I am going with this? There will be quite a market for these on your server, so if you have a leatherworker, or know one, make sure and get this pattern asap, and get them tossed up on the AH. *It seems that this is a pattern bought using 10 Heavy Savage Leather from your trainer, so you might want to stock them up JIC.

Now as the other folks mentioned in the posts above, there are new craftables in nearly every profession that pops. New PvP gear for Blacksmiths/Leatherworkers/Tailors that will be quick sales, A few Engineering recipies, and a mess of "here and there's". Most of those will be using Volatile Fire and Volatile Water, so tell you what, do your homework, and stockpile your own little chunk of what you plan to make right away. Deal?

I cannot emphasize this enough. MAKE SURE YOU ARE FIRST ON YOUR SERVER TO SELL THESE GOODS! If you are resetting the market on "x" material, make sure and keep a tight eye on them. Patches are a great chance to make some killa gold, are you going to be in that group? Or wishing a week into it that you did?

Not the PTR Already....4.2.0 Profession Changes

So here's the latest and greatest information pertaining to the updated (although PTR info) professions. Wowhead has the goods if you want to get a bit farther into what you can make and what the current materials are. Just be aware that there will be changes, but this at least gives you a good start on what to stockpile (if you aren't already).

As you can see, Bloodthirsty is the "generic" name given to EVERY SINGLE ONE of the new designs (or revamped), and knowing Blizz, it will be special....suuuuure.

*Edit- Brian stated in comments that these are all available from the vendors using honor points. What is changing is that they will become craftable in 4.2.0 as well as go from a i352 to a i358 and drop the "gladiator" from the title.

Here is an example of the stats, and as you can see, they are currently sitting at i358, which probably won't move much, so we at least can figure something is in stone. As of right now, it seems that the mats are the near to the same as the current craftables....which in other words just means profit, profit, profit for those that make them.

Now some folks are already predicting that the recipies will only be drops from raids/etc in Firelands, but I am not a believer of this. These will be added to the trainers like every other "mass" set of gear that is out there. No reason for blizzard to drop blue recipies for a whole "tier" of gear in instances, so if you are the stockpiling type, and you have a "crafting" profession, getcha mats ready for when 4.2.0 goes live.

Thanks to HWoodlockheart on Twitter, as Kaliope has a similar post as seen on PTR- Kaliope, fix your RSS so I can add you to my blogroll! Jeez!

Archaelogy Updates and AH Tank Sales for 4.1 "Call to Arms"

Hey folks!

I really need more time in the day. I missed another post yesterday. But I got some schtuff that you will be interested in coming very, very soon! First off, I am covering Arch changes, then afterwords I am hitting up an upcoming AH sales platform. So sit back, enjoy your third (ok, maybe fourth by now) cup of java, and read up!

Extinct Turtle Shell                                                                               Vyrkyl Drinking Horn

Pterrodax Hatchling

Ancient Amber

Voodoo Figurine

Haunted War Drum

Nothing major coming out, but if you had already invested your time, there are some pretty decent pets and a nice shield (since the "call to arms" is going to be a heavy hitter).

Now to emphasise this point a bit, you will see some upcoming sales for tank gear. Dust off that Blacksmith and make some PvP Crafted gear (As they have seen a small spike, and more to come) like the Ornate Pyrium set and the Bloodied Pyrium set, any "higher end" i359 craftables, shields etc. I have been stockpiling for a few days any 80+ tank gear from my "flipping" process (see a post here on how to's) and will be dumping them come 4.1.0 drop.

Now for the Alchemists and Chefs out there, get ready for a spike in your "buff food" and tankable "drinks"; Earthen Potion, Elixir of Deep Earth,  Mushroom Sauce Mudfish, Blackbelly Sushi, and many more. Ask around in your guild for the heavy hitting tanks and what they use, and that will be what you want to sell. EZ money, ez profits!

Now get on your AH and get busy! If any tanks read this, holler in comments what you are currently using for "buffing" and help out your fellow AH PvP'ers! Thanks ahead of time! Till next time folks!

Blacksmithing + Enchanting = 170g every 2 minutes

Greater Eternal Essences and Illusion Dusts still have very high prices on most realms. Blacksmiths can also make easy gold with their profession by creating equipment which disenchants into the said dusts. Almost every profession can create similar equipment and I will list them at a later time.

Enchanted Thorium Blades
Requires Blacksmithing (300)

This would be the least expensive to make, each item costing only the following to make:

Enchanted Thorium Bar x 2
Thorium Bar x 6
Rugged Leather x 1

And one will disenchant into some of the following:

Greater Eternal Essence x 1-2
Illusion Dust x 1-2
Large Brilliant Shard x 1

Atm I can make about 170g profit from one stack of Thorium Bars since they are dirt cheap most of the time, and almost no one is selling GEEs, so I can ask even 80g for one! Illusions have had a price tag of about 50g (Each!) for a while now on some realms. 15-20g is the average price usually.

Remember to check Thorium Ore's prices also, as some miners don't bother smelting them and list for silly low prices instead. Here's an opportunity for Jewelcrafters also! More on that later.

How to make easy gold with blacksmithing

Enchanting rods are easy, profitable and fast to make, yet there always seem to be some rods missing from AH, often leaving the prices for you to decide. If you have blacksmithing and your Auction House doesn't have certain rods, why not make some fast gold?

Blacksmithing guides
There's exceptions too though. For example, AH almost always has 10+ Golden Rods for sale with low prices, so better to sell some other rods instead!

Or if you feel crazy, you could buy those cheap rods and list them back for 100g each, and also buy the AH out of materials to make them, so the previous blacksmiths cannot make any more - without leaving the town and abandoning the thought in most cases!

There is no need for me to list their prices as you should only sell rods that no one else is selling, and you will be the one deciding their prices. I've seen Fel Iron Rod go for 10g when there's many people selling them and even 600g if no one else is selling it. So as you can see, you can make a lot more gold tomorrow than today in some cases!

Currently there's no Fel Iron rods, Arcanite rods, Copper rods or Adamantite rods for sale on my realm, letting me to put a heavy price tag on each of them and hope for a buyer!

Make gold with the Darkmoon Faire

When Darkmoon arrives next time, you have a new opportunity to profit from it by utilizing Blacksmithing profession. A npc in the camp offers you the Rituals of Strength quest that needs 8 Dense Grinding Stones.

Upon turn-in, you will receive 20 tickets which you can spend on 3 different Darkmoon Prizes, containers that will give random items.

1. Buy all cheap Dense Stones you can find in the Auction House

2. Turn them into Dense Grinding Stones. Requires 250 Blacksmithing

3. Visit Darkmoon Faire when it arrives and turn in all your Dense Grinding Stones

Now you have to decide what prizes to spend your tickets on. Every prize can hold valuable items, especially profession recipes. Some of them are worth even 15,000 gold if they are hard to obtain, like the Plans: Radiant Belt Most of them don't contain anything valuable at all however, so it's a risk, but a cheap risk!

Minor Darkmoon Prize

Contains level <-20 items.

Lesser Darkmoon Prize

Contains level <-45 items

Greater Darkmoon Prize

Contains level <- 55 items

Remember, if you obtain a recipe and you don't know how valuable it is, ask me. It's not wise to list something for 50g when it might be worth 10,000g instead!
